Youth Group

Sunday Mornings

On Sunday mornings, 6th to 8th-grade students and 9th to 12th-grade students meet together in their respective youth rooms between services to read Scripture and pray together. We walk through the whole narrative of Scripture, noticing how it all points to God’s redemptive work in the world through Jesus.

Senior High Youth – Wednesday Nights

Every Wednesday, the 9th to 12th-grade students meet together to consider important cultural topics in light of following Christ. These evenings also provide more time for social interaction and fun activities together. Usually, we have snacks too.

Retreats and Mission Trips

Each year the youth participate in the all-parish retreat. They also typically take a winter or spring youth weekend retreat. Weekend retreats are times for the group to spend an extended period of time in worship and meditation. Ample time is dedicated to snowball fights or playing in creeks as well as lessons, prayer, and silent times for reflection.

Every other summer the youth group partners with YouthWorks to engage in week-long mission trips. Trip activities include working in nursing homes, helping members of the community with home improvement projects, and running Vacation Bible School. Daily devotions, worship time, and group prayer time are also consistent and important parts of these trips.

Alternate summers the youth take a week-long retreat with youth from many other congregations to an outdoor Christian camp ministry. These retreats offer a lot of time for fun, but more importantly are filled with intense times of worship, prayer, Bible study, and deep conversations about following Christ.

Other Opportunities

Many other opportunities exist or come up from time to time such as local service projects, special small groups, fun trips to places like Salt River Tubing, hiking opportunities, catechesis courses, youth group fundraisers, home get-togethers, etc. These events typically get placed in the Sunday bulletins and youth group newsletters.
