Epiphanies in Lent

Lent started early this year. However, over the next three Sundays I’ll be preaching on texts that can safely be called epiphanies. This Sunday I’ll be looking at Genesis 15:1-18, in which God makes a covenant with Abraham. Next Sunday we’ll reflect on Moses and the burning bush, and on Lent 4 we’ll hear the parable of the Prodigal Son.

In each of these texts we learn something significant about God – each is a moment of revelation. In Lent, as I wrote last week, we’re called to the discipline of “reading and meditating on God’s Holy Word.” These texts are full of rich material, and I’m looking forward to diving in with you all.
