Serve

Central to the vision of Christ Church is that its members be a blessing in our city and wherever God leads us. This congregational heartbeat has led us to serve others within our church family and also develop active partnerships with other organizations to make this vision more of a reality.

Below are several ways you can volunteer to serve within the Christ Church congregation. Just contact the church office and we’ll connect you with the right ministry leader.

Worship
Young people in the sixth grade through high school are encouraged to participate in worship services by carrying the cross and torches, and by serving at the altar.
Members are invited by the rector to serve as the priests’ liturgical partners in making the worship life of the parish run smoothly. The spiritual commitment required ensures our worship space is maintained reverently and includes the care of sacramental vessels, linens, and vestments.
Chalice bearers are appointed by the clergy and licensed by the bishop to administer the chalice during the celebration of the Holy Eucharist.

The choir provides musical leadership for the congregation during the 9:00 am worship service.

These specially-trained lay chalice bearers bring the Sacrament to parishioners who are physically unable to come to church.
This guild provides the floral arrangements for all worship services and decorates the church for special occasions.
In this Montessori-based curriculum, a storyteller memorizes and presents an assigned story for 4 years – 3rd grade children during the worship service, and a doorkeeper is in to assist.
Lay readers participate in worship by reading the appointed Scripture readings for the service.
The music team provides musical leadership for the congregation during the second worship service.
These groups pray regularly for those on our prayer list, and also for healing during our worship services and in homes.

Set up and control sound and/or livestream video equipment for worship, record the sermons, and put equipment away after worship. Training provided for those High School age and older.

The Minister of Ushering is a person chosen to reflect the warmth and welcome of Christ himself. We are always mindful of Christ’s words: “I was a stranger and you welcomed me.” As an usher, you play a vital in welcoming, serving, and assisting those with physical limitations. Your support is essential to the smooth flow of our worship services. Ushering is a great opportunity for both new and established members to get involved at Christ Church Anglican. It requires only a small commitment but the rewards are endless. If you are interested in becoming an usher please contact the church office.
Greet visitors before and after worship services, provide them with information about the parish, and help them meet others. We especially welcome families to sign up and serve together in this way.
Christian Formation
Teachers and assistants serve two to three Sundays per month. Teachers lead in prayer, a Bible story, and discussions, and usually prepare a simple craft for their classes. Assistants serve with the teachers and help the children as needed each week.
Join with other parishioners in serving our community through partner organizations, including ministries to the homeless, the hungry, and refugees.

Meet on a weekly or bi-weekly basis with parishioners in your area to grow together as disciples of Christ and support one another in the ups and downs that each season brings.

Adult volunteers teach Sunday morning classes for Jr. & Sr. High students, help with activities, and serve as chaperones.
Parish Life
This group provides meals for those who could use some extra help due to illness, surgery or the birth of a child.
Food is provided for receptions after weddings, funerals, and a variety of other events at the church.
Light refreshments and fellowship between the two Sunday worship services outside the sanctuary.
