I was born in Indianapolis, Indiana but spent my formative years in Dallas, Texas, where we lived for a decade. We moved to Arizona in 1994.
I attended North Canyon High School and attended Arizona State University earning a degree in Broadcast Journalism at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication. I started my career as an overnight newscast producer at ABC 15 where I produced morning news for two years. After working while everyone else was sleeping, I decided I needed a change. I began freelancing at CBS 5 News and that turned into a job as a Special Projects Producer/Planner. I just celebrated my 22nd anniversary. Over my 22 years working at Arizona’s Family (3TV and CBS 5 News), I have taken on a variety of roles. Right now, I book segments for The News @ 3p, produce half-hour programs like our annual Monsoon Special, and help organize Pat’s Run, Waste Management Phoenix Open coverage and Paul’s Car Wash, which is a fundraising car wash for Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Central Arizona.
Since college I have been highly involved in the Rocky Mountain Southwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. I have served as treasurer three times since 1999, and I am currently President of the organization. I am also Vice President of my HOA. I was a founding member of an organization called Angels on Patrol. Their mission is to provide officer-initiated support to community members in times of crisis. To date, they have helped more than 20,000 people.
A year after our family moved to Phoenix in 1994, we found a new church home at Christ Church of the Ascension. I was able to use my technical theater knowledge from high school and worked with theater group Christ Church Players. While I did not act in any productions, I did lighting design and directing. I also designed and ran lighting for special services such as Maundy Thursday and Christmas Eve. In addition to that, I worked with kids in children’s chapel (what we call Godly play) and was a Sunday school teacher for several years.
My parents were founding members of Christ Church Anglican. I soon followed and since that time have served as a Welcomer, Sunday school teacher, a member of the vestry and am currently part of the hospitality team and serve as an usher. My family has deep ties to CCA, and we all serve in various capacities.
So many wonderful things are happening at Christ Church Anglican, and I look forward to contributing to its success on a deeper level.
