Pray for GAFCON

This weekend, Anglican leaders from around the world will gather in Jerusalem for the third GAFCON conference. GAFCON, which stands for Global Anglican Future Conference, is a reformation movement within the Anglican Communion. Our church, the Anglican Church in North America, was founded in response to a request made at the first GAFCON in 2008 that a new province of the Anglican Communion emerge in North America.

As the leaders—bishops, priests, deacons, and many lay people—gather, please pray that they would be encouraged and nourished by the time spent in worship, in prayer, and in fellowship with one another. Also pray that they would have wisdom as they seek to enable, Christ-formed, scripture-shaped mission to flourish around the world. Pray that they would listen well to God and to one another, that they would have a deepening awareness of and sensitivity to the varied and complicated ministry contexts faced throughout the world, and be motivated by a vision of a renewed, restored creation through the generous, powerful, redeeming love of Jesus.

Our bishop, Keith Andrews, as well as several others from our diocese will be there. Please pray for safe travel and a deeper, fuller revelation of what God might have for us here in our diocese as we seek to bear faithful witness to the good news of God in Christ to our friends and neighbors.

For more information, you can visit the GAFCON website, and we look forward to hearing good reports when the bishop returns.

Peace,

Chris
