Educate yourself on the refugee journey, and get equipped to love your foreign-born neighbors! If you attended this training last January, consider joining the 201 track this time.
Choose from two tracks:
REFUGEE 101 (for those new to refugee ministry):
- The refugee journey and overview of the US refugee-resettlement program
- Loss simulation
- Cross-cultural basics and communication tips
- Overviews of countries from where people are fleeing
- Promoting self-sufficiency
- Building bridges to people of other faiths
REFUGEE 201 (for current practitioners):
- Small-group discussion and networking on pertinent topics (church engagement, volunteer retention, avoiding burnout, stories of God at work, political climate, etc.)
- Presentations from experts in various relevant spheres (hoping for experts on landlord-tenant issues, employment, adult education, citizenship, law enforcement, health)
