Whether you’ve been walking with your refugee friends for years or you’ve never met a refugee and are curious about the many nations in our great city, this training is for you!
We’ll have two tracks:
REFUGEE 101 (for those new to refugee ministry):
- The refugee journey and overview of the US refugee-resettlement program
- Loss simulation
- Cross-cultural basics and communication tips
- Overviews of countries from where people are fleeing
- Helping without hurting
- Building bridges to people of other faiths
REFUGEE 201 (for current practitioners):
Small-group discussions and networking on pertinent topics (engaging your church, immersion experience and storying, police interactions, etc.)
