Important Message from the Wardens
Dear Christ Church,
At a Vestry meeting this past Monday, Austin Britton tendered his resignation as Rector.
Obviously, this is received with much sadness for all of us at Christ Church Anglican and for Austin and Rebecca. I realize this comes as a surprise, yet, during the past several weeks working together, both Austin and the church leaders have come to mutually see that this is not a good fit. As such, we commend Austin and his family to the Lord and he does the same for us, believing for God’s purposes for the future.
Austin, the wardens, and clergy have all met with the bishop this week and a very generous departure-gift was approved for him by the Vestry.
In the meantime, Chuck and Matt are here until the Vestry can make more permanent arrangements for calling a new rector. We also have other exceptional ministers in our parish that are willing and able to serve. And we have a wonderful staff who are great at stepping into the gaps! Christ Church’s strength has always been the abundant Grace of our Heavenly Father and extraordinary people who are a part of us.
Please pray for Austin and his family as God leads them, and pray for our clergy and vestry and staff as we navigate the path ahead of us. Thank you for your generous encouragement and support over this past year and a half and for your continued prayers.
Gratefully yours,
Shawn Carson Jack Smelser
